PYGMY MARMOSET: THE SMALLEST MONKEY IN THE WORLD

Image
The  pygmy marmoset , genus  Cebuella , is a small genus of   New World monkey  native to  rainf orests   of the western  Amazon Basin  in  South America . It is notable for being the smallest monkey and one of the smallest primates in the world, at just over 100 grams (3.5 oz). It is g enerally found in  evergreen  and   river-edge forests   and is a  gum -feeding specialist, or a gummivore. About 83% of the pygmy marmoset population lives in stable troops of two to nine individuals, including a dominant male, a breeding female, and up to four successive litters of offspring. The modal size of a standard stable troop would be six individuals.  Although most groups consist of family members, some may also include one or two additional adult members. Members of the group communicate using a complex system including vocal, chemical, and visual signals. Three main calling signals depend on the distan...

POLAR WILDLIFE

Image
SUB - ZERO TEMPERATURES , six months of darkness , hurricane force winds , and desert conditions make the polar regions some of the most difficult places for wildlife. Only animals and plants specially adapted to the severe conditions can hope to survive . Every animal from the furry nosed reindeer to the thickly blubbered whale is particularly suited to its environment . All wildlife has to be able to breed or flower in the extremely short polar summer . For many animals , the sea , which is rich in plankton and krill , is the key to survival . Most mammals and birds , especially in the south , depend on it for their food .  Polar regions  : The Arctic and Antarctic Circles are defined as those parts of the planet that experience 24 hours of daylight and 24 hours of darkness for atleast one day in the year . The Arctic and Antarctic are totally different from each other . The Arctic is a frozen sea surrounded by land ; the Antarctic is an ice - covered continent surroun...
